Non Traditional Christmas Card

Have you attended any card making retreat? I have not and this will be my first time attending. I am so exited!!

For this retreat we have two theme for swap cards. 1) Anything goes and 2) Non Traditional Christmas card. After thinking and looking into my old stash of cards/pictures came up the idea to make night scene card with Grassy Grove Stamp set and Dies.

I started with Smoky Slate cardstock as a card base measures 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4′. My first layer was with Basic Grey measures 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ and second layer again Smokey Slate measures 5 1/4″ x 4″. I cut two strips of Basic Grey measures 1 3/4″ x 4″ which I tear top part of the strips pulling towards me so you get rough edge of the paper. I cut small circle with sticky pad and sticked on right upper corner. Using one of the strip using blending brush and Basic grey Ink pad try to make look like dark clouds in sky. I keep changing directions of the strip and shade of the color. To keep different shades of clouds I just didn’t take any ink on brush for second and third time and so on. I also ink blended with Basic grey all edges of both strips. To create effect of the light around moon inked in circle motion over and around sticky paper. I adhered both strips on bottom of the cardstock as it looks like mountain hills making sure to glue only on the bottom and side of the strips. On piece of Basic Grey cardstock I stamped two sets of trees with White Pigment Ink and die cut. Also die cut small deer. I adhered both tree one on bottom hill and second on top hill and adhered deer in between trees. I stamped greeting with White Pigment Ink. I totally forgot that pigment ink takes longer to dry an I smeared ink while attaching some snow flakes and adding white dots on deer with white gel pen. to see process please watch Video below.
